Cut-off for Kindergarten cut off is on or before September 30.
Thank you for your interest in Imagine Avondale’s Pre-School Program.
We take students, and we do call them students, once they turn 3 and are fully toilet trained. We take 3 and 4 year old children into our Pre- K Program and work to get each children ready for kindergarten.
The program is very social and is based on academic age appropriate activities. Teachers conduct individual assessments on each child, throughout the school year, to track their learning, academic growth, social development and basic skills . Our Pre- K teacher and aide use the Early Learning Standards which are themed based, for the daily instruction and activities. PK teachers are required to submit weekly lesson plans and the PK teacher’s instructional practices are observed by the academic coaches as well as administration. There are computers in the Pre-K classroom and students have access to them daily. The Pre-K students are considered students at an elementary school. They play on the playground, eat lunch in the cafeteria and are included in our monthly assemblies. Pre-K students do take a nap after their lunch time.
We take a total of 24 students and have one full time teacher, who is CDC licensed, and an aide. We run our program based on the school calendar and school is closed on the major holidays and the summer.
Our Pre-K Program is fully licensed by DHS and DES. There is consistent site monitoring by these two agencies. We are working with the Association for Supportive Child Care on a two year self-study program in order to apply for National Pre-school Accreditation. We are also working with the Arizona State Quality First Program for further credentialing.
